The Bra size consist of two measurements - the frame size and the cup size. For knowing the correct bra size, the frame measurement and the bust measurement are to be taken. The frame measurement is the measurement around the body, taken by passing the measuring tape over the bottom end of the bra, as shown in figure 1. The bust measurement is similar measurement taken by passing the tape around the body, over the breast (nipples) as shown in figure 2. Measurements are generally taken in inches.
In both the measurements, care should be taken to ensure that the tape runs parallel to the floor around the body, that is, no portion of the tape is is up or down than the other parts.
If the measurement is taken wearing a bra, the cup of the bra which u wear should not be heavily padded. It is better to measure the size, without wearing a bra, and ensure that while the frame size is measured, no part of the breast tissue is taken in the measurement.
If the frame size (figure 1) is in even number, that is the required bra size. If the tape shows the measurement in off number, add 1 to it and the resulting figure will be the bra size. For example, if the tape measurement comes to 30 inches, the bra size is 30; if however the tape measurement shows 31 inches, the bra size required will be 32 inches.
Cup sizes are A, B, , D etc. ''A' is the smallest size, 'B' is larger than 'A', and so on. For finding out the cup size, the frame measurement is to be deducted from the bust measurement, and then the cup size is arrived at as follows, based on the difference :
difference : 1 inch... means : cup size A
difference : 2 inches means : cup size B
difference : 3 inches means : cup size C
difference : 4 inches means : cup size D
difference : 5 inches means : cup size DD
difference : 6 inches means : cup size DDD
For example, if the bust measurement is 35 inches and the frame measurement is 32, the cup size will be C, because the difference in measurements is 3 inches.
